Sure it's about technique, but playing the blues harp is just as much -- maybe more -- about feeling. Mark will teach you to play tastefully and with feeling, so that even before you've reached the point where you can blow people away with your technique, you'll be able to play something that will sound good and allow you to confidently jam with others even if they're more advanced than you are.
Specializing in beginners and intermediate players who want to play the blues, Mark is great both with kids and with adults who might be a little shy about stepping out into the musical world. For total beginners, we begin with just the acoustic harmonica itself, learning how to bend notes, how to breathe, hand techniques and other essentials. But for those who can play a little harp -- or once you reach that point -- he can also teach you all you need to know about amplified harp equipment and technique.
Mark Zaretsky, the Chicago-born-and-raised lead singer and harmonica player for The Cobalt Rhythm Kings, based in New Haven, CT., has been playing the harmonica for more than 28 years in Chicago, California, Detroit and on the East Coast. He has led the Kings, one of Connecticut's leading blues bands, for the last 10 years. Mark specializes in personalized learning, tailoring the lessons -- at your place or his -- to what you most want to learn while at the same time teaching you all the important things you might not know you need!
You will learn how to play and have tons of fun doing it! Mark Zaretsky PO Box 8383 New Haven, CT. 06530 USA Telephone: 203-415-1670 Email : harplessons(at)cobaltrhythmkings.com |
