The Cobalt Rhythm Kings will be playing in the near future at the following fine venues, joints and hotspots: (Please call first to confirm -- things sometimes change at the last minute.)
--Friday, July 4: Happy Independence Day! -- Save some gas this 4th of July, pack a pic-a-nic basket, blanket and a cooler and come relax with us at the East Haven Town Beach! We'll be playin' -- and you'll be layin' (or dancin' if you prefer) -- from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. East Haven has a beautiful little town beach that is one of the area's great little secrets -- close to lots of parking and directly across the street from an awesome little seafood joint, The Sandpiper. (Another excellent joint, The Beachhead, is just up the street.) We played there last summer and it was DELIGHTFUL! We expect more of the same Friday, weather permitting, so come on out and join us in the placid sands of East Haven's seaside playground! Bring some cool drinks and sandwiches (or some cash for the aforementioned seafood joints) and make a day of it! It's off Cosey Beach Avenue, just off the end of Coe Avenue. (Parking lot is to your right, beach is to your left.) From New Haven, take I-95's Frontage Road exit, take a right onto Hemingway Avenue and drive down Hemingway, which becomes Coe, all the way to the beach! IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT PARKING: You non-East Haven residents might have heard or read that East Haven has just became the last community in the area to require resident beach parking stickers. That's true. But you can park FOR FREE at Momauguin School, which is a few dozen yards north of the regular beach parking lot. (Take a right off Coe Avenue onto Dewey Avenue, then a left onto Cosey Beach Road.) Because this gig was posted on our website long before East Haven started its new thing, we also have been assured -- by Mayor April Capone Almon herself -- that if any of our fans get ticketed, it will be taken care of. So should you forget and park in the regular lot and somehow get a ticket, contact the mayor's office at 203-468-3204 and tell them -- politely! -- that you were there to see The Cobalt Rhythm Kings and ask them -- politely! -- if there's anything they can do about it . . .
--------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Friday, July 25: SBC Restaurant & Brewery, 1950 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT. 10:30 p.m. Come join The Cobalt Rhythm Kings for our first gig at this latest outpost of Connecticut's best brew pub and our long-awaited return to Hamden! SBC has great food and no fewer than 27 different brews on tap! Let's show 'em why we should be a regular act in this great new nightspot! For more info, call 203-288-HOPS or got to www.southportbrewing.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Wednesday, July 30: Ivoryton Green! 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Join us for our third summer playing out in this idyllic splash of green in the center of picturesque Ivoryton, as part of the Essex Summer Concert Series. The Ivoryton Green is accessible off Route 80. -->Follow Main Street into Ivoryton. The Ivoryton Green is on your right hand side after you see the flagpole. It is located before the Ivoryton Playhouse and across the street from the Ivoryton Library. For info: 860.767.4340 Ext. 110 or www.essexct.gov/departments/parks.html --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Saturday, Aug. 2: Cafe Atlantique, 33 River Street Milford, CT. Come join us for some midsummer madness in Milford! We'll be OUTDOORS (weather permitting,) or indoors if it's raining. 8:30 p.m. start. Come for the blues, come for the street scene or just come, sit and drink a cool glass of beer or wine or a frothy coffee drink! Cafe Atlantique also has great crepes, sandwiches and salads and stuff -- along with great desserts! -- so come hungry! But do come! For more information, call 203-882-1602 or go to www.cafeatlantique.us. --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Wednesday, Aug. 6: New Haven Green! -- Blues, Berries & Jams! 12-2 p.m. Come join The Cobalt Rhythm Kings and our friends from UltraRadio.com for some outdoor blues -- and pick up your sweet corn, some Handmade-in-New Haven soaps and some cool-looking heirloom tomatoes in the same trip -- at our annual performance at New Haven's cool pairing of music on the Green and City Seed's weekly farmers market on the plaza in front of City Hall! This will be one of the best Wednesday afternoons of the summer, weather permitting, so come join us! For more info: UltraRadio.com or www.infonewhaven.com. --------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Friday, Aug. 8: private wedding engagement, Hartford, CT. FYI: We had an awesome time in ARKANSAS at the Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival -- which everyone still calls the King Biscuit Blues Festival -- Oct. 6-8, 2005! If you've been there, you know. If not, YOU'VE BEEN MISSING IT! We stayed in Clarksdale, Miss., played at Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero blues club in addition to the festival, checked out the Delta Blues Museum, went to Beale Street in Memphis, popped into a juke joint or two, discovered some great new blues, saw LOTS of cotton fields and, oh yeah -- ate killer barbecue all weekend long! It really was a good time -- so check it out next year. Thanks to the King Biscuit for booking us! ***********************************************************************************
